Ankle Booties: A "Shoe"-in for Summer!
Traditional fashion rules dictate that boots have to be put away when summer rolls around. BUT, this summer, ankle booties seem to be sticking around a little longer. Some days might be too hot for anything but sandals, but milder weather can be a good time to put your ankle booties into use! A neutral pair is a great investment and really lengthens your legs, but we also like darker colors, as you'll see below. (Jenna's purple pair are from Urban Outfitters). Pair them with a mini skirt, shorts, or a dress, and your booties will take on a whole new life. They add a slightly dressier edge to your look without the discomfort of heels. (Yes!) This look is perfect for class, concerts, shopping days, and casual dates. Also keep in mind that since "boot" season is over, you might find some perfectly good pairs on clearance! Let us know what you think, and don't give your boots the boot!

Stylish Bruin Spotlight: Anna LaPlaca

This week, we decided to feature a truly stylish Bruin: Anna LaPlaca.  She just started her own fashion and lifestyle blog: As Told By Flo.  Inspired by the boho vibes à la Vanessa Hudgens, Anna rocks a pair of floral shorts and detailed white top.  She edges her outfit up with cool shades and black slip ons that both Jenna and I now want to get ourselves... obsessed. Her look is the perfect combo of edgy and boho. Check out more of her outfits on her blog:  AsToldByFlo.com

Red Carpet Ready.

This past weekend, I had the unforgettable opportunity to attend the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas.  It was a weekend full of running around backstage, rocking out during soundcheck, and strutting down the red carpet.  I got to see first hand all the hard work that is involved in making the Billboards such an entertaining and phenomenal show.  Sunday was show day, which meant lights, camera... red carpet.  To get red carpet ready, I woke up extra early to get all glammed up. (and in a classic Chloe move I almost glued one of my eyes shut while applying eyelashes...oops!)  I decided to post all the details to my red carpet outfit. In honor of the hot summer weather, I went for a fun, colorful outfit for the show. I chose a two piece skort and crop top combo, both from LF.  I loved the pastel colors in the skort and the detailing in the top.  It definitely kept my cool all day under that hot desert sun.

Secret Garden
Sometimes you just need a refreshing escape from the post-week 6 madness! Nestled at the edge of the Anderson School of Management (we love a lot of things in this area!), this little garden is full of greenery and has a nice path for a short run or walk. For the beautiful 70's-and-sunny weather, Jenna is wearing a crop top and maxi skirt with gold accessories. Have a great week and remember to take care of your mind and body!

Male Mail: Spring and Summer Wear
The weather is warming up and summer is almost here, however, there are still a few spring weeks left, so don’t put the pastels away yet. Springtime is the perfect season to wear pastels and bright colors, and as we move into summer and the weather warms up, many shirts of these styles are made from lightweight cotton and linen and are perfect for the heat. This salmon colored button down from J. Crew works well with the dark navy, cotton twill pants by Adriano Goldschmied (better known as AG). It is perfect for weekend brunch or a casual dinner, and can be dressed up as business casual with a pair of brown loafers. The shirt can also be dressed down with navy shorts, like these from American Apparel, which also work well with a simple pocket square crew-neck t-shirt. So don’t hesitate to add a bit of color to your wardrobe and a pair of navy shorts and pants that match virtually anything. Lastly, a great watch with a bold face and leather band, like this one from Diesel, is great for all occasions and ties any outfit together.

"Cool" Trends: Personal and Professional Style!
With Summertime around the corner, we know you want to stay cool (temperature wise) and even cooler (you wise). We've developed a couple of looks that incorporate edgy trends into summertime-appropriate looks. Chloe demonstrates a great look for shopping trips, days in class, or exploring the city. She continues her love for rocker tees with a Nirvana top from Brandy Melville, and adds to the trend with calculated tears in her jeans, ankle booties (you can still wear them when the weather warms up!), and trendy baubles. Jenna has created a look perfect for work or internships, especially if you are working around Los Angeles. Modlook 29 and Topshop are both currently carrying asymmetrical skirts with zippers, which are the edgy variation to traditional business skirts. Paired with a statement necklace, lacy blouse, and top knot, the skirt's style makes you stand out in the crowd!

Edgy and Easter
Spring is the perfect time to celebrate the different sides of your style. Some days, you might want to look classically cool, ready to rock and roll and take on the world. Other days, you might want to look preppy, ready to celebrate the rebirth of spring and final quarter of school. Whatever your daily choice, we've got you covered. Chloe likes the old time rock and roll, and picked up a genuine ACDC concert shirt from World of Vintage T-Shirts on Melrose Place. These shirts are the real deal! Not to mention, it is a fun place to just look through and explore some musical history! She paired it with a trendy asymmetrical skort from Topshop. We remember wearing skorts in preschool, and frankly we missed them. Good thing that Topshop has successfully designed a sophisticated and on-trend skort for grown ups! Considering that a campus like UCLA demands function out of style, this piece is pure brilliance. Jenna went the preppier route for spring, and visited Keene in Westwood for a bright salmon top. Paired with any denim or white bottom and a turquoise necklace, this top immediately creates a put together look! Photos were taken on North Campus at the Broad Art Center. Have a great week!

Hidden UCLA Gem: Il Tramezzino
We have been extremely excited to try Il Tramezzino, a brick cafe nestled in the gorgeous Anderson school of management. The menu contains hearty soups, well-portioned salads, and sweet pastries, all fresh out of the kitchen. We each got delicious meals under $10 and great service at the counter: Chloe got a chopped chicken salad rich with garbanzo beans, tomatoes, and a balsamic vinaigrette. She also got a large iced green tea, which is always a refreshing serving of antioxidants! I scored with some (vegan!) tomato soup. The menu listed the soup as "famous", and for good reason! The smooth, rich, and organic soup was absolutely wonderful. I also got a freshly squeezed cup of orange juice, pumped full of pulp and vitamin C without any added sugar. Il Tramezzino has friendly service and fresh menu items that won't break the bank. Be sure to check out this lovely eatery for a healthy toss-up in your weekly meals!
